You are donating to : Los Pipitos Center For Handicapped Children
The Los Pipitos Center in Somoto cares for 450 handicapped children from Somoto and its surrounding areas. These children have disabilities such as Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsey, blindness, deafness, and many other congenital abnormalities. The 6000 sq.ft. building was constructed by Hearts Afire Foundation in 2004. At the facility the children have access to two physical therapist and a full-time physician. The salaries for these professionals are provided by Hearts Afire Foundation. Necessary medications are also provided by our organization.
The children who attend Los Pipitos receive education in arts and crafts, braille, sign language, and general subject matter appropriate for their age. Family members of the children are instructed in the proper care of them. Children who cannot travel to Somoto are visited regularly in their own homes by staff members of Los Pipitos. Transportation costs are also provided by Hearts Afire Foundation.
