New Projects Approved for Somoto

We are so excited to share with all of you that we have received the necessary assistance and funding to complete two projects that were presented to us when we last visited Somoto in 2014.

Through Rotary International and the Rotary clubs of Merced Sunrise, Madera, North Merced, Merced, Atwater, and Somoto-Nicaragua, we have received a grant for approximately $35,000 to drill and install three wells, in three different communities surrounding Somoto.  These three wells will bring clean water to over 3,000 people!

Our second project was to construct a building for the Juan Brenes Hospital in Somoto, which provides care to over 30,000 people in the District of Madriz.  Through private donations of three individuals of Merced, California we were able to raise the $75,000 to complete the project.  Construction has already started and we will be able to attend the Ribbon Cutting on our next visit in February.
